- A special scenario for users of Virtual Servers:
If you use the Virtual Server hosting plan, you may not have sufficient privileges to create new databases on the target MySQL server. For such cases, the following scenario is recommended:
- Ask the administrator of the Virtual Server (or hosting provider) to create an empty database in your account;
- Run DBF-to-MySQL specify this database as the conversion target;
- When a dialog appears with the question of how to process an existing database, select "Overwrite existing tables"
- Indexes are converted with all necessary attributes.
- Convert relations between tables (foreign keys).
- The ability to merge Oracle data with the existing MySQL database.
- The ability to convert selected data using SELECT-queries.
- The ability to convert Oracle data into a MySQL dump file: Oracle-to-MySQL converter allows users to perform deferred conversions and thus gain more control over the process. In this scenario, the program converts Oracle data into a MySQL dump file instead of moving directly to the MySQL server. This dump file contains MySQL queries that create the necessary table structures and populate them with data from the Oracle database.
