Security company Sophos has warned of a new, fast-spreading virus, aimed at users of online communication programs. According to Sophos, the new Rbot-GR virus has the ability to automatically activate webcams and microphones, "tracking" the lives of network users.

"Rbot-GR is the first to enable the webcam," said Graham Cluley, a spokeswoman for Sophos. "Most likely, the virus will appear in many variants in the near future, especially when Broadband and online chatting needs are expanding. "

Rbot-GR is part of the Rbot family of viruses - symbolizing the ability to turn a remote computer into a command-line robot of the author of the virus. & nbsp;
According to Cluley, Rbot-GR is not as dangerous as "keystroke" viruses that can be used to steal passwords (keyloggers) or "backdoors" for hackers. However, the "ability" of Rbot-GR should be taken into account soon to implement preventive measures.
The Rbot-GR solution, users should be wary of receiving emails, files sent through instant messaging (IM) programs, and up-to-date versions of the latest antivirus software.
