Is Your History Really Clean?

Is Your History Really Clean?

When we sit on the net, everyone thinks about how their personal information is revealed just by deleting the history and cookies. But such thinking is completely wrong. Because Windows has several log properties, everything goes away once you've deleted it. We will go into discussing this issue here.

The first is that you delete history by common method is to Tools & gt; Internet Options & gt; Clear History. Then go to C: windowscookies (for windows 98, the other win is C: Documents and SettingsAdministratorCookies). In the cookies directory we will see the file "index.dat". Have you ever wondered what this file is for? Have you tried opening it with notepad? Even if you try to delete it once? Maybe the answer is "NO" Now let's try. Open it with notepad and you will be surprised to hear that "this file can not be opened as it is being used by another application". Ok no matter what. Copy this file to another place. Now open it with notepad. You will be surprised to see all the urls that you have. And what do you do next? Delete it? How? Windows does not allow that. Only one way is to restart your computer and go to DOS to delete the file:
C: windows & gt; cd cookies [Nhập]
C: windowscookies & gt; del index.dat [Enter]
When we reboot into win, a new, clean index.dat file will be replaced.

Cache Folder
Not yet safe !!! Another way is to open the Cache directory. Most of these directories are located in "C: windowstemporary internet files". When we are here, we will see many files. Whenever you open a web page, it will be stored in this folder. And help you see it offline. But these files are not real, they are just links or shortcuts. Real files are hidden in system folders like BT7VHTOX, C52R4X6B, CDIJKLIJ and many in the "C: WINDOWSTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5" folder. And here comes another problem. You can not view Content.IE5 in the Cache directory. The reason is that it is the system directory. To better understand the Cache directory you have to work in a DOS environment. At the DOS prompt, type
C: windows & gt; cd temporo 1 [Enter]
C: windowstemporary internet files & gt; dir / as [Enter]
Kích thước trong ổ đĩa C là WIN
Volume Serial Number is 0E4A-1109
Directory of C: WINDOWSTemporary Internet Files
DESKTOP INI 67 11-13-02 9: 29p desktop.ini
CONTENT IE5

11-09-02 11: 34a Content.IE5
1 tập tin (s) 67 bytes
1 dir (s) 8,392.13 MB free
C: windowstemporary internet files & gt;
The 'dir' command with '/ a' will cause the system to display all file types, whether hidden files, systems, or other types. And using it as '/ as' will display all files, the system directory. So we will get a desktop.ini file and a content.ie5 directory. Navigate back to the content.ie5 directory

C: windowstemporary internet files & gt; cd content.ie5 [Enter]
C: windowstemporary internet filescontent.ie5 & gt; dir / as [Enter]
Kích thước trong ổ đĩa C là WIN
Volume Serial Number is 0E4A-1109
Directory of C: WINDOWSTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5

DESKTOP INI 67 11-09-02 11: 34a desktop.ini
U3SR4MU7 11-09-02 11: 34a U3SR4MU7
S52BS1IN 11-09-02 11: 34a S52BS1IN

Z3J5HAMP 11-25-02 3: 44p Z3J5HAMP
C52R4X6B 11-25-02 3: 44p C52R4X6B
CHEBGTEF 11-25-02 3: 44p CHEBGTEF
1 tập tin (s) 67 bytes
8 dir (s) 8,384.13 MB free

Here we see 8 system folders. And the actual files you see in the Tempor ~ 1 folder are stored in these 8 system folders. In fact, Tempor ~ 1 contains only a desktop.ini file and a Content.ie5 directory. (I do not understand why windows programmers created this messy cache directory for what ?!)

Clearing Cache
And you may be surprised to learn that this cache directory takes up a lot of space, sometimes more than 40MB !! So clear it. The simplest way is to right-click on the C: drive in My Computer. Select properties. And click "Disk Cleanup". Remember to tick "Temporary Internet Files" and click OK. Now the cache directory is completely cleared except for cookies.

Fully automatic feature
Actually history has not been cleaned yet !!! There are times when you just type www.s, the address bar will give you a list of urls starting with www.s. So if you went to www.somesite.com before and then someone wants to go to www.site.com, just type www.nomesite.com to find www.somesite.com! It is one of the fully automated features of windows. And sometimes it is very dangerous for you Windows stores these URLs in the cookies folder C: windowscookies. Please delete these cookies. For example. If the name of the site is website.com then the cookie's name will be anyuser@website.com.txt.

Office history files
Of course, we all know that when you open any document and then click on the file menu, you will see a list of recent doc files opened. Here are some very important files. Search on my machine and know they are stored in folder C: WINDOWSApplication DataMicrosoftOfficeRecent. This folder contains shortcuts to recent excel, access, ppt, html files and even folders to contain those files. There is a special file called index.dat, which contains the entire list. So if you do not want anyone to know the document then delete the files in this folder.
