Trojan Attack Anti-Virus on Phone

The hackers are launching a program targeting Symbian smartphones. A Trojan called Drever.C is capable of removing any security applications it finds.

F-Secure, Kaspersky and Simworks antivirus software for Symbian-based devices are the target of this Trojan. F-Secure said that Drever.C disguised as a security upgrade and sought to cripple the boot and F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus applications. However, the Finnish security firm claims that this attack does not cause any damage because the software above can block all attempts to edit the file.

The Drever.C code contains a message sent to F-Secure, in which the hacker claims that if F-Secure stops designing antivirus software, they will not design the application's attackers. Hackers say their next target will be Simworks' security product.

Like all types of mobile phone attack software ever recorded, Drever.C is rare and dangerous only for those who download content from unknown sources. Viruses that attempt to disable security tools on a computer are very commonplace on a computer, but Drever.C is one of the few cases where a Trojan performs the same thing on a mobile device.
