New Virus On Mobile Phone

Yesterday, antivirus company F-Secure said that virus writers have launched a bidirectional virus called Lasco.A, both of which are distributed over a wireless connection by attaching itself to the file sent.

F-Secure said that the Lasco.A virus will attach itself to any application files on the Symbian phone. The Lasco.A virus is triggered when the mobile owner clicks on one of the files it has manually attached.

"So any file in the device copied from an infected phone will contain a copy of Lasco.A."

Lasco.A works like a computer virus, it attempts to copy itself to any application available in the phone and is transmitted via Bluetooth when the user malfunctions.

According to F-Secure, because the virus can only be spread on Bluetooth-equipped mobile phones, the best way to protect it is to disable it.
