More details

MapInfo MapX 5.0.1 - ActiveX component for the development of GIS applications. This technology makes it easy to integrate MapX into custom applications, using, among other things, visual programming tools.
Using OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) technology, you can easily supplement new and existing applications with cartographic functions. Developed, multi-layered object model MapInfo MapX allows you to use: objects of many types, events, as well as a large number of methods and properties. The Developer Kit (SDK) contains numerous sample programs and samples of digital maps. Many parameters have standard values that can easily be configured on special property pages and using automatic wizards.
Scope of application
Software developers who need to use the capabilities of geoinformation systems in their applications.
Features of MapX 5.0.1
  • Rapid application development - full support for OLE technology (Object Linking and Embedding)
  • Developed cartographic capabilities, including map visualization, object editing and thematic mapping.
  • Work with spatial data stored in the DBMS. Support for Oracle Spatial, SpatialWare for IBM Informix and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Support for ODBC data sources.
  • Support for a wide range of raster formats and surface files.
  • Developed mechanisms for selecting objects in the map window - in a circle, in a rectangle, in a polygon, etc.
  • Control the transparency of layers.
  • Presence of ready control elements of the map window, including: scaling, moving, distance measurement, layer management.
  • Caching of map data located on the server
  • Advanced support for working with map layers.
  • Support for the animated layer, for the development of real-time applications.
Access to data and DBMS support
MapX allows users to store spatial data in the DBMS, providing the necessary mechanism for accessing them. Supports such DBMS as Oracle (directly), Informix and Microsoft SQL Server (using MapInfo SpatialWare). In the case of a database, Oracle MapX fully supports the type SDO_Geometry, coordinate systems and Oracle Spatial projections. MapInfo MapX uses pre-fetch pre-fetch methods available through OCI (Oracle Call Interface), which can significantly increase performance.
Bitmap support
Raster images can be added as a separate layer of the map. For such a layer, the transparency coefficient can be adjusted to jointly display vector and raster data.
Editing and editing objects
MapX supports standard functions for working with spatial objects, such as: combine, buffer, intersect, erase, etc. It is possible to edit objects at the level of the coordinates of the nodes.
